Basel Wedding Documentary business has started with an e-mail that is sincere and lovely from miles away. It was quite clear to understand Oya was excited on the e-mail that’s why I got so excited either. After I replied her email, my phone rang after a while and I noticed that I was not wrong about her excitement when I heard Oya’s voice. We agreed with Oya and Joel about wedding photography and wedding film shootings after clarifying all the details of wedding.
As a team of shooting destination weddings, we were in Italy, Spain and the Netherlands in the last year, our next destination was Basel city of Switzerland in this year’s rotation. If you want to fly to Basel, you have to land in Euro Airport that is used by France, Germany and Switzerland jointly. Although Euro Airport is located in the Saint-Louis region of France, airport is only 6 km far from Basel. Our Basel Wedding Documentary journey started at the Istanbul Atatürk Airport International Departures Terminal a day before the wedding. Our direct flight operated by Turkish Airlines, has landed at Euro Airport at 10.20 as planned.
We reached Basel city center by bus number 50 in just 15 minutes from the airport. Just don’t forget that we went to Switzerland from France in such a short period of time 🙂 Even though Basel is the third most populated city of Switzerland, it is a very small city in terms of its territory. Walking around the entire city on foot is not even exaggerating. The hotels also support a free travel card for trams and buses in the city, covering the time you have been accommodating in Basel.
After we settled in our hotel, we have discovered the city till the time we meet Oya and Joel. Walking along the Rhine River that divides the city into two was really enjoyable. The Basel Monastery which is seen from almost every corner of the city gives you a strong background for photos. The Market Square (Marktplatz), where the Town Hall (Rathaus) is located, is among the places to be seen in Basel. The Town Hall (Rathaus) is undoubtedly the most striking structure of this square and the courtyard is open for public.
After a short time but pleasant, we met Oya and Joel at the Safran Zunft Restaurant where the wedding ceremony will take place. Oya welcomed us at the entrance of the restaurant and she was so energetic that made me feel like I knew her for year. Her excitement in the first e-mail didn’t change unlike it increased. We reviewed both the wedding day program with our couple and we gave a few suggestions about restaurant arrangement and light systems.
The day that we spoke about Basel wedding documentary finally arrived.
The wedding day program was out of the ordinary. A wedding ceremony was held at 10:15 am with the participation of their families in the Municipal Wedding Hall (Zivilstandsamt) in the area known as Basel’s Old City.
After the wedding ceremony, the first celebration was in Zivilstandsamt’s garden. All guests left a balloon that they chose by connecting them with a paper written good wishes for Oya and Joel.
After the wedding ceremony and the first celebrations, guests went to their rooms to get ready for the night. At the same time, we did our outdoor shooting with Oya and Joel in the streets of Basel with unforgettable background. Oya and Joel’s Golden Retriever dogs Şans and Kiraz joined us in the outdoor shoots. Fortunately, meteorology failed with its very heavy rain forecasts 🙂
After the preparation process accompanied by Şans and Kiraz in Swissotel Le Plaza, Oya and Joel were looking forward the night entertainment. When they saw each other first in bridal gown and groom’s suit, their excitement was incredible.
As predicted by meteorology, rain had started but not that strong as announced. Not to be affected by the rain, Oya went to Safran Zunft by taxi to protect her hair and make-up. We went to Safran Zunft by tram as we came to the hotel with Joel.
The place Safran Zunft chosen for wedding dinner and night entertainment is quite close to the Market Square (Marktplatz). This venue, which serves more than a hundred years, offers a truly fascinating atmosphere, based on the middle ages of the story and only reserved for celebrations.
The tables were named with the words “Love” in different languages for the guests.
The night when we were going to get rid of all the stress was quite enjoyable with participation of all the guests. No doubt, the mascots of the night were Şans and Kiraz 🙂
While approaching to the end of Basel Wedding Documentary photos, I would like to thank Oya and Joel for their full trust.
We wish them to be happy forever 🙂
